SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 33

Honoring the life, career and achievements of Dr. Jacques
Charbonniez.
Whereas, Dr. Jacques Charbonniez, the son of Pierre and Marie
Charbonniez, was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on June 27, 1932. Dr.
Charbonniez attended medical school at the University of Paris in
Beirut, Lebanon. In 1959, he moved to Montreal, Canada, to undergo
his medical internship followed by a move in 1962 to the United
States to work in a country hospital in Maryland. Dr. Charbonniez
then moved to Charleston, in 1963, to undergo a five-year plastic
surgery resident training with Dr. Clyde Litton and went into
private practice in 1970; and
Whereas, Dr. Charbonniez followed through on his desire to
raise a family among the hills of West Virginia because it "felt
like home" by fathering three children, Anne, born in 1967, Nicole,
born in 1972, and Pierre, born in 1974; and
Whereas, Dr. Charbonniez is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying
activities such as skiing, golfing, fishing, mountain biking and
windsurfing; and
Whereas, Dr. Charbonniez has performed much volunteer work
including helping crippled children by performing various
surgeries. He has also served as a clinical professor in the West
Virginia University School of Medicine and has performed various
volunteer teaching and advising positions throughout the state of
West Virginia; and
Whereas, Dr. Charbonniez plans to retire at the end of this
year; therefore, be it,
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of West Virginia hereby commends the life,
career and achievements of Dr. Jacques Charbonniez; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate of West Virginia extends to
Dr. Jacques Charbonniez its appreciation and admiration for his
dedication to his family, career and fellow man; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Dr. Jacques
Charbonniez and his wife, Marlease Charbonniez.
